Yesteryear Collection

Based on the Renault AG chassis fitted with a 2 cylinder engine of 1704 cc, these vehicles were very reliable and were still in use during World War 1. It was during this time that many private cars and light commercial vehicles were converted to ambulances, the Renault being such a conversion.

This Special Limited Edition 'Ambulance' was released worldwide in December 1986 with a production of 30,000.

*The roof component was made without the luggage rails (type C) and it featured window openings and blue tinted glass which were incorporated into the bosy. Originally the plastic roof was to have been black but it was decided that it would be more appropriate to match the body colour of 'Army', sometimes referred to as 'Field Green'. As a military vehicle Matchbox restricted the use of plating.
The windscreen was green and the headlamp case was black.
The baseplate still had the recess for the spare wheel although this model did not come with a spare wheel fitted.

Livery: (Tampo)
'BRITISH RED CROSS SOCIETY' and 'ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSN.' with the international Red Cross symbol in red on white border on both sides of van.
Red Cross symbol on white background across rear doors and on roof over cab.

Variations/Rarities: This limited Edition Renault can be found with a "MATCHBOX © 1986 ENGLAND" or a "MATCHBOX © 1986 LIMITED EDITION ENGLAND" baseplate.
There were no rare variations.
